Heineken Cup Strength and the Appearance of the Faceless Unknown Rugger at the Claus Trailer

Posted in: All About Rugby

It looks like we are down to the final eight in the HC. Breaks down to three Irish Provinces, two French Clubs, one quasi English club, one Welsh quasi province and one Scotland province.
This tells me something. The English have no representative. I will always think now that Sarries are South African.
It also tells me that the England sides are concentrating on the English clubs because that is what is the future of the Heineken Cup and they know it.
The HC maybe ,but certainly another championship will be a world club championship. This also tells me that the clubs are concentrating in England on the 6N.
On paper, and only on paper, sides like Sarries a South African international unit), Munster and Leinster, more Ireland, Ulster, another moreso than not South African international outfit, Edinburgh, a disguised Scotland, and Cardiff. a more regional side should beat big club sides like Toulouse and Clermont. There is a difference despite the fact that Toulouse, in particular, do have some mercenary artillery.
That would mean that whomever wins the HC , in reality, loses because the championship is not truly a club championship. And we all know the weak reasons of Ireland and Scotland entries.
I now don’t buy into provincial teams competing.
there would be a more comfortable me if Ireland entered Shannon RFC, Cork Constitution, Landsdowne RFC and Ballymena RFC, the Belfast Harlequins and Scotland entered Heriot, Edinburgh Academicals & Borders, and Wales regaled us with Pontypridd and Swansea. Not going to happen. Totally ridiculous attempt at leveling the playing grounds.

So there we all were in the New Jersey Diner Claus’s with all the participants who you know. There were the dwarfs, the ladies, Larry, Tony, Me and Lars.
Lars may have been surrounding himself with beautiful lap dancers but , and I say this as a club member, Lars was well known as a very large but gay lock at the club.
None of that mattered now.
The grog was flowing as was the handling and I will get to that more in awhile but the importance of the whole drunken experience was our introduction, me first, after the dreamy kiss of Mrs. Claus to the faceless unknown rugger we all now. Yes he was inebriated too but it was his entrance into the story like The Masque of the Red Death that brought us back to reality.
At the next outing I will describe in depth and character gay Lars, French Tony and Martinique Larry.
But first the toast.
Next the man with many faces and none known as one of the greatest players of his era who failed.
